Suunto D6I with RGBM

Suunto’s decompression model development was adopted from the 1980s Bühlmann’s Gas saturation model based on M values in Suunto SME. In the late 1990s, Suunto implemented Dr. Bruce Wienke’s RGBM (Reduced Gradient Bubble Model) in comparison to work with the earlier M-value based model theory. The first commercial products released by Suunto used this principle software thats was installed to the early Suunto Vyper and Suunto Stinger. Later as Suuntos ongoing products, improvements, and develpements, this became significant to diver safety as the RGBM addressed a number of diving related circumstances that were outside the previous range of dissolved-gas-only models. Suunto found that by testing and continuously monitoring multi day diving the software computed closely spaced repetitive dive profiles thus the RGBM allowed divers to dive deeper than the previous dive in the same day, this software was quickly installed into the early Suunto D6i..
