Suunto Recall all Wireless Tank Pressure Transmitters

SUUNTO the main supplier for Scuba diving computers all over the world has issues a safety, inspection & service recall.

Suunto identified a potential safety risk affecting all Suunto Wireless Tank Pressure Transmitters and Suunto Tank PODs (manufactured since 2003) and Suunto Tank PODs (manufactured since 2013).which wirelessl transmit tank air pressure to compatible Suunto dive computers.

In two isolated reported incidents, the exterior case of a Suunto Wireless Tank Pressure Transmitter has failed during regular dry land pressure testing. Although extremely rare, this represents a potential risk of injury due to the risk of bursting under water at depth.

Unsold stock: recall held by suppliers 

Suppliers are advised to immediately send all unsold stock of Suunto Wireless Tank Pressure Transmitter (SS019098000 SUUNTO WIRELESS TANK PRESSURE TRANSMITTER ) and Suunto Tank POD (SS020306000 SUUNTO TANK POD) to your Suunto distributor. Your distributor will send the units to Suunto only and will replace the units with new ones.

What to do if you own a Suunto Wireless Tank Pressure Transmitter or a Suunto Tank POD

  1. Do not use the affected product(s) before it has been upgraded.
  2. Bring the product(s) to your nearest authorized Suunto dive dealer or a Suunto Authorized Service Center for inspection and upgrade. A list of dealers and authorized service centers can be found at: Dealer Locator .
  3. Consumers can also use the Online Service Request (www.suunto.com/online-service-request) to send the product back if they live in a country where the service is available.
  4. As a complementary service, Suunto will provide a battery replacement free of charge and a one-year warranty from the date of inspection for all upgraded products.
  5. When you receive your upgraded product(s), please register the product(s) at MySuunto to ensure you receive a full one-year warranty extension from the date of inspection.

    Servicing offered by Suunto

  • The affected products will be serviced through L1, L2 and L3 service centers.
  • L2 service centers will be instructed through the Suunto Service News.
  • If you – as a dive dealer – are also an authorized L1 service center, you will participate in inspecting, repairing, testing, and reporting via web based data collection. You will receive specific instructions and parts in the coming next weeks in order to be able to carry out the service and reporting.
